Trust Fund
The money can be for you without being yours to direct today.
01Dictionary Meaning
A trust fund consists of assets held and managed by trustees for beneficiaries under a trust arrangement and the law that applies to it.
02What People Think
"A trust fund is a large account you can spend."
03What’s Underneath
A beneficiary may receive income, capital at a specified stage or distributions that depend on a trustee's decisions. Different trusts create different rights.
The person establishing the arrangement can define purposes and conditions within applicable legal limits. Trustees then have duties in managing the assets and applying the terms.
The fund's headline value therefore does not reveal how much a beneficiary can access or control. Nor does the word "trust" automatically establish a particular tax result or protection from every outside claim.
04The Game
Who benefits, who decides, when can money move, and what duties constrain the person making that decision?
05One Line
A trust can separate receiving the benefit from holding the controls.
