Financial Literacy

Knowing what interest means does not tell you whether this loan fits your life.

01Dictionary Meaning

Financial literacy is the knowledge and skills used to understand financial information, evaluate choices and make informed decisions about money.

02What People Think

"Learn the terms and you'll make good decisions."

03What’s Underneath

Recognizing a rate is useful. Comparing the full cost, repayment dates and consequences of missing a payment requires applying that knowledge to an actual situation.

Information also operates inside constraints. Someone may understand expensive borrowing perfectly and still have few alternatives for an urgent bill.

Financial literacy improves a person's ability to examine an arrangement. It does not guarantee income, fair products or access to good options. In a family, the words become more useful when connected to decisions people can observe and practice.

04The Game

Can the person explain the cost, obligation and trade-off in this particular choice, and what alternatives are genuinely available?

05One Line

Knowing the language helps you read the deal. It does not choose the deal for you.
