Saving
The balance stayed safe. Its buying power still moved.
01Dictionary Meaning
Saving means setting aside money for later use rather than spending it now.
02What People Think
"If the number doesn't fall, I haven't lost anything."
03What’s Underneath
Keeping money readily available can make sense for an upcoming bill or an uncertain month. Its job may be access, not maximum growth.
But a stable cash amount and stable purchasing power are different things. Interest can add to the balance while rising prices reduce what that balance buys.
The purpose of the savings changes the trade-off. Money needed shortly has less time to recover from a market loss than money intended for a distant goal.
04The Game
Is this money being kept for access, protection from a specific expense, or growth over time? One account may not serve every job equally.
05One Line
Savings need a purpose before they need a performance target.
