A family can have funds available and still lack someone who can attend an appointment, supervise a child or coordinate care during working hours.
The demands can overlap unpredictably. Reducing paid work to meet them can then affect the caregiver's own income and future resources.
Family size, geography and public services shape what is possible. The pressure is therefore a coordination problem as well as a financial one, with one person's time often connecting otherwise separate needs.
