01Dictionary Meaning
In crypto and tokenization, real-world assets, or RWAs, are assets originating outside the blockchain, such as property, commodities or conventional financial claims represented through tokens.

03What’s Underneath
A token linked to stored gold needs the gold to exist, be held as described and support an enforceable claim. A token linked to a loan still depends on the borrower paying.
Someone must maintain records, safeguard assets and handle events that the ledger cannot resolve by itself. A digital token can keep transferring while a dispute over the underlying rights remains unsettled.
"Real" distinguishes the source of the asset. It does not establish the quality of the asset, the security of the claim or the reliability of the people connecting them.
