Privilege

The advantage may be the mistake you could afford to survive.

01Dictionary Meaning

Privilege is an advantage linked to circumstances such as family resources, social position, connections or institutional access that others may not share.

02What People Think

"If I worked hard, privilege cannot be part of the result."

03What’s Underneath

Two people try an uncertain career. One can return to a family home if it fails. The other must cover rent without interruption.

Both may work hard. The same gamble carries different consequences, changing which opportunities each can reasonably pursue.

Advantages can also be ordinary and easy to overlook: a useful introduction, reliable care or knowing how an institution expects an application to look. Recognizing those conditions clarifies how an outcome happened without reducing the person to a single explanation.

04The Game

What support made the attempt possible, and which costs would have fallen on someone starting without it?

05One Line

Opportunity includes how much a failed attempt is allowed to cost.
