Inheritance
"We'll split it equally" is the beginning of the family meeting.
01Dictionary Meaning
Inheritance is money, property or other assets passed to someone after another person dies.
02What People Think
"We'll leave it to the children. They'll work it out."
03What’s Underneath
Picture three siblings inheriting one house.
One needs cash. One wants to keep it. One already lives there. Their shares can be equal while their needs pull in different directions.
Someone has to decide who uses it, who pays for repairs and what happens when one person wants out. A valuable gift has become something they have to manage together.
The transfer process and the rights each person receives depend on the estate arrangements and the law that applies. "Equal" does not do all that work by itself.
04The Game
Along with the asset, which decisions are being passed to the next generation?
05One Line
You can inherit a house and a group project.
